From the house

Ourika excursion

The green Ourika valley, its waterfalls and its Berber villages.

It is the nearest escape from Marrakech and by far the greenest. The Ourika valley climbs into the Atlas alongside its river: the air changes as you go, crops cling in terraces to the mountainside, and at the head of the valley the waterfalls drop in stages.

The day includes a walk in open country — go all the way up to the falls or stop along the way, as you like — and a visit to Berber villages set straight onto the slope, where life has very little to do with life in the medina.

The activity is booked through the house, on arrival or before.

The sitting room: low olive-green banquettes, white cotton curtains tied back with red tassels, and green arabesques painted by hand across the ceiling.
